- 2 cups masa harina
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups water
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (10 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 2 cups shredded cheese
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large bowl, mix masa harina, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add water until a soft dough forms.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until browned.
- Add black beans, diced tomatoes, cumin, and chili powder to the beef mixture. Stir well and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Spread half of the masa dough in the bottom of a greased baking dish.
- Pour the beef mixture over the masa dough and sprinkle with cheese.
- Cover with remaining masa dough and bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
