Snickerdoodle Cookies (without cream of tartar)

Delicious and easy-to-make snickerdoodle cookies without the use of cream of tartar.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and additional sugar for rolling.
  7. Form dough into balls, then roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  8. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden.
  9. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
