  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and ground cinnamon.
  7. Form the dough into balls and roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  8. Place the cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • For extra chewy cookies, slightly underbake them.
  • You can chill the dough for an hour to make it easier to handle.
