French Onion Soup Mac & Cheese

A rich and creamy mac and cheese inspired by classic French onion soup, featuring turkey bacon for a smoky twist.

  • 4 strips turkey bacon
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, cook turkey bacon until crispy; remove and crumble.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onions in butter until caramelized.
  4. Add beef broth and thyme; simmer until slightly reduced.
  5. Stir in cheeses and cream, mixing until melted and smooth.
  6. Combine macaroni with the cheese sauce and add crumbled bacon.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with additional cheese if desired.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, omit turkey bacon and use vegetable broth.
